A deeply personal and introspective journey, both musically and lyrically, it reflects NGAIO’s exploration of identity, cultural heritage, and the challenges of expressing oneself authentically in a world often resistant to alternative perspectives.

What sets NGAIO apart from other artists is her commitment to authenticity and storytelling. She has self-produced "Who We Are," which speaks to her artistic vision and her desire to create music that is true to her unique voice and experiences. The hauntingly beautiful vocals serve as the centrepiece of the track, drawing the listener into a sonic landscape, blending in percussion and deep basslines reminiscent of Bristol's dubstep and trip-hop roots, further anchoring the track in the city's rich musical heritage. A heartbeat-like kick drum, adds depth, rhythm and a forward momentum that propels the listener through the song's narrative.

“It’s a bit terrifying having worked on this project solidly for three years to have it finally coming into the world. Learning to produce has been important to me because I wanted to find what my sound was when left to my own devices and challenge myself to become a more independent creative.

Who We Are came from a place of authenticity and vulnerability. It reflects the journey I’ve been on thinking about why people find it so difficult to hear and accept perspectives different to their own. It’s about speaking your truth without it needing to be validated. It’s about spirituality, and trusting the roots that you came from” - NGAIO
